Ayurveda, derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (knowledge), translates to the “science of life” and is often referred to as the ancient Indian system of medicine. Its roots trace back to the divine, with legends stating that Brahma, the Creator, first revealed this sacred knowledge and passed it on to his son Daksha Prajapati. It was later imparted by Lord Dhanwantari, the deity of healing, to revered sages like Atreya, Bharadvaja, Kashyapa, Sushruta, Parashara, and Charaka, who played a vital role in shaping Ayurveda into the profound medical system it is known as today.
